First of all, in any screen you may press the ? key to be taken to a help menu
listing the current key bindings relative to the task at hand. You can search
through this help screen for specific topics of interest to you the way you
would when using the vi editor or less: hit the / key to enter your search
term, and n and p to cycle through the next and previous occurences of that
term throughout the document. Type q to exit the help screen. Once you know
how to get help, you'll be more tempted to explore, and you should. If your
version of mutt has been properly configured, you can type F1 to get to a help
file (the man page, actually), but if not, you can type ``man mutt'' or ``man
muttrc'' at a terminal prompt to read the man pages. Other help resources are
listed in section 5 of this Woodnotes guide.
Assuming little gnomes and trolls have already magically configured your system for you, you can open a virtual terminal window and type `mutt' to proceed directly to reading your mail; otherwise, skim the next sections and proceed to section 3 to read about configuring your system for mutt.
