Christmas in Dakar
We live in Sub-Saharan Africa, where the largest socio-economic minority is the Lebanese, some of whom work with or for the American community. Put that together and what do you get for Christmas? Santa Claus enjoying a cold beer at the Christmas celebration, while watching the Belly Dance troupe shimmy. Awesome. It's Christmas in Dakar!
What's my favorite part of the picture? Not the dancers, surprisingly (although that was great too). It's the bored 9 year old kid behind Santa, wishing they'd wrap it up. His opinion of them may change before too long though.
There were also two clowns for the kids, and some carolers: fun! But the belly dancers stole the show - just ask Santa.
